Digital illustration - completed for the prompt “Shadow Rises” as part of Misadventure May 2020

This piece was inspired by the character of “The Beast” from Over the Garden Wall. In the show, he is represented by a humanoid silhouette which feels as if part of the forest. I wanted to create a similar being, made of shadow and slender limbs, but with more uncertain morality. He towers over the curious figure below, but is in turn seemingly smaller than the tree.
